    Like, okay. Criticizing English-language columns in Korean newspapers, especially second-rate papers like DongA, is basically what I imagine training a shotgun on a fish in bucket would be like. You’ll win, but you chose a method so easy that you’ll just end up hurting yourself in the process.

    For some reason, I’m doing it anyway. This column has everything. Needlessly sexualizing imagery. Victim-blaming pop culture examples. Implication that the women should have been arrested for obscenity charges. And worst of all, the writer never even gives voice to the main point of the walk, which was that women shouldn’t be blamed for sexual assault based on their dress, their behavior, or anything else. He instead throws out some stupid probably-misquoted or cut-off red herring quip about “grandmothers are assaulted too so it’s not always about dress” which, of course, could be easily countered if that was at all the actual point of the protest.

    Well, hopefully the article is so horrible in Korean that lots of other people get mad too.

    Huh?! I’ve never read this publication before so I don’t know what their standard of reporting is like but this article is borderline incoherent. The points stated about “confident” women and “appreciative” men, movies, protesters’ wet collarbones, etc. have nothing to do with the actual point of the walk, besides further sexualizing women. The real message behind the walk is only very briefly touched upon without proper recognition or explanation. Is this translated from Korean (not that it should matter)?

    All I can think after reading is: “So… what’s your point again?”
